Connecting to Sisense

This topic describes how to connect Sisense to MemSQL. Sisense supports two types of data models: ElastiCube Model and Live Model.

When you use ElastiCube Model, you import data from data sources, and then merge, manipulate, and query the data. If the data in the data sources changes, you will need to refresh the data sources to see the changes.

When you use Live Model, you work directly with data sources. You do not need to refresh the data sources if the data changes.

Prerequisites

Prior to configuring Sisense to connect to MemSQL, you will need to have Sisense installed.

Connecting Sisense to MemSQL using ElastiCube Model

  1. Open Sisense and select the Data tab from the top menu.
  2. Click +ElastiCube. Then, specify a name for your new ElastiCube Model and click Save.
  3. A screen appears that has a row labeled Data >> with the name of the ElastiCube Model you specified in the previous step. Click the +Data button on the right. Then, select the MemSQL icon from the available connectors.
  4. A screen appears where you specify your MemSQL connection details. For the Location, specify the IP address or hostname where the MemSQL master aggregator node resides. Then, specify the user name and password used to connect to MemSQL. Click Next.
  5. Select the database that you want to use. Then, select the tables or views in this database that you want to work with. Click Done.
  6. Your MemSQL cluster has now been configured and can be accessed from Sisense.

Connecting Sisense to MemSQL using Live Model

  1. Open Sisense and select the Data tab from the top menu.
  2. Click +Live. Then, specify a name for your new Live Model and click Save.
  3. A screen appears that has a row labeled Data >> with the name of the Live Model you specified in the previous step. Click the +Data button on the right. Then select the MemSQL icon from the available connectors.
