MemSQL Helios Introduction
MemSQL Helios is the on-demand managed service version of MemSQL v7.0. It provides the same functionality, capabilities, ingest and query performance, scalability, and resiliency available through self-managed MemSQL clusters while handling all installation-, operation-, and management-related details.
MemSQL Helios is designed and architected to tolerate and recover from failures. To maintain each cluster’s high availability (HA), MemSQL Helios runs on a cloud-native, highly resilient infrastructure with high availability built-in.
MemSQL Helios high-level features include:
-
A fully-managed and resilient MemSQL database that can scale as needed
-
Cluster configuration, sizing, deployment, and monitoring via a graphical user interface (GUI)
-
Cloud-agnostic deployments on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
-
Secure, with encryption of all data at rest, and TLS/SSL encryption for over-the-wire connections to the cluster
-
Automated infrastructure provisioning, configuration, elastic scaling, backups, hardware maintenance and failure management, and upgrades of MemSQL, operating system, and related system software

Obtain Help and Support
Customers with an existing MemSQL license or MemSQL Helios subscription have access to support as defined by their associated agreement. MemSQL provides the same support and services for MemSQL Helios that are available for self-managed deployments of MemSQL. To obtain support for MemSQL Helios, visit support.singlestore.com.
MemSQL Helios trial support is available via MemSQL documentation and MemSQL Forums.

MemSQL Helios Maintenance
MemSQL Helios scheduled updates occur for all regions on the first and third Saturday of each month, at 12:00 PM EST / 5:00 PM UTC, and typically last for two (2) hours.
Email reminders for each upcoming scheduled update are sent to customers who have registered on the MemSQL Customer Portal and have an active MemSQL Helios cluster.
These scheduled updates allow improvements, bug fixes, and optimizations to be made to your clusters. On occasion, these updates may trigger a rolling online restart of your cluster. While MemSQL Helios clusters are redundant, and restarting nodes should not typically affect your workload, you may experience 2 - 5 minutes where DDL is unavailable during the restart as the Master Aggregator is updated.
